#MeToo:  The Origins and Future of a Movement

Many public conversations about #MeToo erase or ignore the lengthy history of organized activism against sexual harassment and violence prior to 2017.  Professor Alisa Rosenthal will discuss the fascinating history of this activism in the U.S. context, recovering its roots in the work of African-American women battling racism and sexism, and consider its lessons for our present moment.

Guest speaker:  Alisa Rosenthal, associate professor in political science; special assistant for diversity, equity, and inclusion in the President's Office; director in John S. Kendall Center
